CLIENT MANAGER, IMMUNOLOGY AND INFECTION

Salary: £40,000-50,000 per annum

We have an opportunity for a motivated and pro-active individual to join the Client Services team at the Charles River Laboratories Portishead site in the UK. The site is focussed on providing state of the art cell biology and pharmacology support to a range of global pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies in areas including immune oncology, autoimmune and inflammatory disease and infection. We work on projects from early drug discovery through to clinical trials. You will have a detailed scientific background in at least one of these disciplines (likely to higher degree level) and will be working with scientific and sales staff to identify opportunities, develop scientific proposals for customers, discuss and refine project outlines and cost proposals. You will work with marketing and financial staff to ensure quality customer service is provided. Utilizing Salesforce.com, you will also ensure pipeline accuracy and appropriate proposal follow-up. You will assist in Requests for Proposals, and Requests for Information.

The ideal candidate for this role will possess a higher degree in a relevant discipline, is highly motivated and organised and may have experience in a Contract Research Organisation setting.

Requirements:

  • Degree/Higher degree in a discipline relevant to immunology, inflammation, infection or pharmacology;
  • Some experience in developing, optimizing and executing biological assays ideally in a pharma or biotech setting;
  • Can produce draft documentation and/or correspondence for approval by others;
  • Highly organised with an ability to plan own day to day activities within given work programme with agreement of manager;
  • Capable of expressing technical information/views in an accurate and understandable way;
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office.

Salary:

£40,000 to £50,000 depending on experience.

SENIOR IMMUNOLOGIST

Salary: £35,000 to £45,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications

Hours: Full-time

KWS BioTest is based in the Bristol area, and partners with a range of biotechnology and pharmaceutical clients, researching new drug therapies for human disease.  KWS carries out research from the early phases of drug discovery through to assessing drug effects in clinical trials. KWS specialises in the development of drugs in immunology, oncology, inflammation and infection. The company is in a phase of expansion and has a number of Senior Immunologist positions available.

The successful applicants will join a dynamic and flexible team using a variety of state of the art laboratory techniques as part of in vitro and ex vivo studies (pre-clinical and clinical).  There will be ample scope for the individual to take on projects, develop new assays and thereby expand the repertoire of expertise within the team.

The vacancies exist within our Cell Biology/Analytical teams, who develop and run a wide range of immunological assays using techniques such as culture of primary cells and cell lines, flow cytometry, ELISA, Luminex, QPCR and confocal microscopy.  Post holders will work on exciting novel treatments for human diseases, making a genuine contribution to moving potential new drugs into treatments for patients. KWS offers a supportive environment in which training and progression are provided. Prospective candidates should have a Master’s degree or PhD and have a strong background in Immunology and a good command of biomedical sciences in order to grasp the concepts required.  Candidates should also have a clear grasp of the drug discovery process and may have worked in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.

IMMUNOLOGIST

Salary: £20,000 - £30,000 depending on experience and qualifications

KWS BioTest is a contract research organisation, based in the Bristol area, undertaking drug discovery testing for a range of biotechnology and pharmaceutical clients.  The company is in a phase of expansion and requires at least one laboratory immunologist.
 
The successful applicant will be an integral part of a dynamic and flexible team which conducts a variety of laboratory techniques both as stand-alone studies and in support of experimental disease models.  There will also be ample scope for the individual to take on projects, develop new assays and thereby expand the repertoire of expertise within the team
 
This role exists within our Cell Biology/Analytical Services teams, who develop and run a wide range of immunological assays using techniques such as culture of primary cells and cell lines, flow cytometry, ELISA, Luminex, and confocal microscopy.  The post holder will gain experience of existing methods and will assist in the development of our continually-evolving range of techniques.  The job will also involve making a contribution to routine laboratory duties, such as consumables ordering, preparing COSHH and risk assessment forms, and ensuring the cleanliness of the laboratory.

Prospective candidates should have a Master’s degree or PhD in Immunology and a good command of biomedical sciences in order to grasp the concepts required.  An ideal candidate will also preferably have a good grasp of the drug discovery process and may have worked in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.

LABORATORY TECHNICIAN(S)

Salary: £15,000 to £18,000 depending on experience and qualifications

KWS BioTest is based in the Bristol area, and partners with a range of biotechnology and pharmaceutical clients, researching new drug therapies for human disease.  KWS carries out research from the early phases of drug discovery through to assessing drug effects in clinical trials. KWS specialises in the development of drugs in immunology, oncology, inflammation and infection. The company is in a phase of expansion and requires at least two Laboratory Technicians.
 
The successful applicants will join a dynamic and flexible team using a variety of state of the art laboratory techniques as part of in vitro and ex vivo studies (pre-clinical and clinical).  The successful applicant will support a wide range of scientific activities within the company, contributing to the processing of research and clinical samples, analysing the outcomes of drug testing assays as well as playing a role in ensuring the smooth running of the laboratories.

The assortment of experimental tasks that the post holders will be involved in is wide ranging but includes activities such as:

  • Processing samples such as tissue, blood, microbiological, etc.
  • Preparing reagents for use in experiments.
  • Supporting laboratory experiments.
  • Supporting archiving and coordination of activities after a project.

Individuals will be providing with training across a broad range of scientific skills and assays. There will also be scope for the individual to take on projects, develop new assays and thereby expand the repertoire of expertise within the team.

Candidates should have a biological sciences based undergraduate degree or strong technical background with experience working in a similar environment.
